Fritz DeGuglielmo LLC has
been doing business in Newburyport, Massachusetts for over
thirty years. The firm currently has four Certified Public
Accountants (CPAs) who are directly involved in the services
we provide to our clients: John C. Fritz, Stephen J. DeGuglielmo,
Daniel Schaffner and Derek Spurr.
John C. Fritz, CPA – With
over thirty years experience in public accounting and
serving businesses and individuals in the local area,
John provides tax and tax consulting services to our
business and individual clients throughout the year.
He graduated from Bentley College, earned his CPA certificate
and in 1975 established the firm in Newburyport.
Stephen J. DeGuglielmo, CPA – Steve
has over twenty years experience in public accounting
serving small businesses and individuals. Steve works
closely with business owners in finding solutions to the
many challenges of operating a business by providing tax
planning and savings strategies, business operations
analysis and internal control analysis. Steve’s background
includes being employed by an international public accounting
firm before joining Fritz DeGuglielmo LLC. He is a graduate
of Merrimack College and is licensed as a Certified Public
Accountant in Massachusetts and Florida.
Steve
also has extensive experience in providing audit,
tax and management advisory services to non-profit
organizations. He was selected by the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants to be a test professional
for the evaluation of Statement of Position (SOP)
98-2 “Account
for Costs of Materials and Activities of Not-For-Profit
Organizations and State and Local Governmental Entities
That Include Fundraising” which
was issued by the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants after the evaluation process was completed.

Daniel Schaffner, CPA --
Dan has over nine years of professional accounting
experience in assurance, accounting and tax services.
Prior to joining Fritz DeGuglielmo, Dan was employed
by certified public accounting firms in New Orleans,
Louisiana and Houston, Texas. Dan is a native of Georgetown,
MA, graduated from Georgetown High School and went on
to attend Tulane University in New Orleans. Dan holds
Bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance
from Tulane.
Derek S. Spurr, CPA, MST – Derek
has been in the public accounting profession for over twenty
years. He has served as an audit and tax advisor
to businesses in a variety of industries including manufacturing,
retail and wholesale sales, restaurants, construction,
real estate, travel agencies, credit unions, marine vessel
services, and not-for-profit organizations. In addition
to holding an undergraduate degree in accounting, Derek
earned his Master of Science degree in Taxation at Bentley
College.
